It’s always a nice stop seeing cousins from my mom’s side of the family. This was just a quick stop before moving south. Thanks for meeting up with me for dinner!!

Follow along as Pearl and I discover all the interesting people and places in the USA.

Last Doctors appointment taken care of and visit with a few close friends. I’m good to go south!

Visiting Beth is never complete until we spend time the the cool waters of Lake Michigan. This year, Beth also got a present from Scott and Lynn that I delivered. Have fun Beth, but be careful with that chainsaw!

As I start my journey south, I always enjoy stopping to see friends. Till we meet again old friends.

This was cool!! I found this place on my Harvest host site and wanted to take the tour and meet some Yaks. It was amazing and so much fun. As it was only my sister Beth and I, we took a side by side into the pasture. Learned so much about these cool animals. And had a lot of fun giving them treats!

So when I booked here, I didn’t have a lot of opportunity at state parks. So Wilson had openings and there was a lake, so I thought ok. The site did say it was 150ft from the road, however it didn’t say there was shared electric posts, how far away each was and that there was no tree barrier between road or sites. It was not the best place for me. I like more secluded sites. The only draw to coming here is the lake that I could tell.

I had heard this was a great park but wasn’t prepared for all the wooded areas. With this park being so close to some major cities (Ann Arbor to name 1) I was surprised at the rustic nature of the campground. Sites were very big but be prepared to need extensions for electrical hook up. A lot are on shared poles between 2 sites. Mine was close to 50ft away and I was pulled in opposite of how I normally park. I went back into the reservation website to see if this was mentioned and it’s not. I have sent a review and suggested they add this information. We’ll see. I am not opposed to coming back. Another thing to note is the beach is better accessed by bike or car. A little too far to walk it with beach gear. But it was fun!

I’ve been wandering around visiting family, friends and cousins around the state while enjoying the beautiful August weather. First stop was cousins who I haven’t seen in about 2 years. Our schedules finally aligned to share dinner and laughter. Old home movies of growing up together made us all laugh ! Boy we had some good times. Unfortunately, I didn’t get pictures. My cousin Dee did turn me on to a great app and some reading material.

Next stop was at my brother’s place. It’s always great to see him and his lovely wife. They’ve been going crazy growing a huge garden! Most everything started from seed. I got to pick some romaine, beans, peppers, tomatoes, basil and parsley. Unfortunately, I was too early to make Salsa with them.

Next was a stop along the way to see a friend I used to shoot pool with. Julie and her husband have a beautiful place and it was fun to catch up with her! Next time I hope to stay over for a longer visit.

I’m off to another campground here in Michigan. Stay tuned. I’ll post shortly about Holly state park.
This wonderful group of friends and I have been gathering for 36 years now. It’s a great weekend celebrating each other and our enduring friendship. Thanks Ingrid for hosting us!

I love taking the scenic drive here at Sleeping Bear Dunes. Love to read the history of this beautiful place. Thank goodness it’s been preserved for generations to come.
