Update from home

Sorry I haven’t posted for a few days but it’s been great relaxing with mom. As well as getting ready for her 92nd birthday parties. She said she wanted 2, who are we to argue with Mom???

I also took a trip down to Grand Rapids for doctor appointments and to catch up with friends. I truly appreciate everyone who made the time to meet up with me. Wish I had gotten more pictures. But i don’t know that we stopped talking long enough! But here are a few.

While I was visiting with Brandy, we grew Borax crystals in this cool tequila bottle! What a great project! I thought it turned out great! Brandy had higher expectations.

All appointments went well and I’m good for another year!

Pearl got some updates

It was great to have a friend nearby who knows his way around faucets and was willing to help me out. I have been wanting to switch out the bathroom faucet for awhile now but couldn’t decide what to choose. I have yet to take a shower in Pearl but didn’t want to totally give up that option in case 1 day I needed to use the shower.

I also had the glass plate over the sink removed and bought a roll up rack that will make the sink more accessible. Drying mat rolls up well in it and a plastic cutting board is easy to use if needed. I normally cut on the fold down extended counter area next to the stove. So I really don’t think I’ll need this area for cutting.

Back home in Charlevoix!

It’s always great to park for awhile in my hometown and visit my mom and sister Beth. Not sure how long I’ll be hanging out but with the gas prices that’s ok.

Also getting a new bathroom faucet put in Thursday! I’ll be sure to add some pictures of the before and after.

Lake Hudson Recreation Area, Clayton, Michigan

What a great primitive campground, there was electric but it was a shared hook-up and farther away than my 50ft of cord would reach, soo I was on solar power. That was find for me. I had a huge site, lots of open area and a little path to walk down to see the lake.

This was also a designated Dark Sky park. I lucked out with Mother Nature; New Moon and clear skies. Wish my camera could have picked up a few more stars in the night sky. The only bad thing is I played with my camera settings to try and get some night sky pictures and nothing will upload to WordPress due to the file the pictures are. Sooo I suggest you take a stop in here next time you’re in the area. Beautiful beach area as well!!

Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, Ohio

You can imagine how excited I was to see I would travel right thru Canton Ohio and have time to stop back at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Another bonus was it being a weekday and not too busy. I was able to take a lot of time and really dig into the experience. I was there for 4 hours and still didn’t see everything. As I posted on this before. I’ll just add a few great pictures of the day.

Findley state park near Wilmington, Ohio

I kept thinking I’d been here before but it really didn’t look familiar to me. There must have been a lot of rain in the area because again, my campsite was a little muddy. Good size site but all of them are very open. As the website talked about the forests here, I was expecting a little more seclusion. Not so much between sites but some great trails!

Storybook trail was my favorite and was part of the Buckeye trail that traverses Ohio.

Mill Creek COE campground near Berlin Center, Ohio

This was nice and I was lucky to have a spot that was mowed and no neighbors on either side of me or across the road. A little muddy but dried out after the 1st day. Great walking the park and fun things nearby.

Near by I visited a Feline museum a Castle and would have checked out The Troll Hole if it had been opened. Supposedly is the largest collection of Trolls in the world!

Shenango campground Transfer, PA

This is a COE (Army Corps of Engineers) campground. It’s much bigger than most I’ve been to. However, I had a fairly good spot but with more research I could have done better. There are multiple loops, some not as busy as others. I was in the rather full loop But had great neighbors!

My neighbors Ryan, Christopher and Robert were very nice and offered fresh Crappie after they fished all day. Almost as great as the ‘Good Al’s’ fish dinner at the cottage. Good conversation hearing about their wives, kids and hunting stories. They were impressed with Pearl.
