St. Mary’s Cove outside of Jacksonville, FL

Well this wasn’t what I was expecting when I called about staying here over the Martin Luther King weekend. Everything else was booked up and I didn’t want to stay anywhere without electricity because temps were dropping into the 20’s at night. That said, it was clean, quite, safe and had great TV reception so I settled in to watch Wild card football. Find the silver lining where you can.

There was a beautiful little cove with a beach area that was a nice feature. Not that I thought about swimming in 40 degree weather. Even with the sun out.

St. Andrews State Park, Florida

This park recently reopened after extensive work repairs due to hurricane Michael. They have done a marvelous job trying to give privacy to each spot but also squeezing in as many as possible. My brother and his wife camped next door and it was a fun couple of days.

What was also cool was the deer that were not affected by our presence. Like this guy.

The sunsets were pretty amazing as well.

Christmas with the family!!

So finally Christmas arrived and we all had a great time over the last couple of weeks. From a birthday celebration at Osaka’s Hibachi, to enjoying homemade Eggplant Parmesan, opening presents and playing with all the new toys. With a mystery play that everyone had a part in, followed by standing rib toast dinner. It was another great holiday together. I even survived babysitting the 4 little ones.

To another great holiday together!

Seminole state park, Georgia

Okay so I’m a little behind posting but I will catch up soon. I’ve been to this campground before and love it. Right on the water, great hiking trails and a cool playground. The park was not busy at all. The host said it was due to the Corp of Engineers planning to rework the section of the park that was destroyed by hurricane Michael. So only 10 sites were opened for reservations.

Hardridge Creek COE campground, Alabama

After Kolomki, I wandered west into Alabama to this Corp of Engineer campground. I loved it had 4 different loops to make it feel like a small campground. I was in pirates cove, only about 10 sites in this loop. Watched the sun set over the water looking out my slider and the moon rise over the water across from my spot. There could have been a little more hiking trails but the main attraction here is the water, fishing and kayaking.
