Florence Marina SP near Omaha, Georgia

It’s been awhile since I camped here and although it’s a nice park, it’s main draw is the proximity to Providence Canyon and boaters. The campsites are a little too open and firepits are placed in weird places. The bathhouse was fantastic which was nice after a long day hiking at Providence Canyon. I have also added a couple odd pictures of our weekend in this area. Thank you Dave for doing the research!

Columbus State University Space and Science center Columbus, Georgia

All I can say is WOW! This place was so cool. Multiple displays and artifacts donated by NASA. Planets hanging from the ceiling with QR codes underneath to learn about each planet. Interactive displays with rovers, hovercraft, spacecraft simulators, shuttle experience of take off and trip to the ISS. Planetarium and let’s not forget the huge telescope they use to take photos of the stars. It was an unbelievable experience. I’ll try to pair down the pictures but we had so much fun it was had to stop taking pictures.

Providence Canyon near Lumpkin, Georgia

As you already know, I love this place. This trip I was able to share it with Mary and Dave. They joined me at Florence Marina SP so we could attend an Astronomy night at the park. The Columbus State university school of space and science was there to lead us through what is in the sky. Such a great night, saw 3 shooters from the motor shower Leonid, multiple satellites. 2 telescopes were set up to view double stars and Satun. Way cool, we’re going to the Space and  science school before we leave. That’s going to be on another post. It was sooo cool!

This post is just more beautiful pictures of Providence Canyon. It never gets old looking at the majestic cliffs while walking the canyon floor.

Sisters weekend in Evans, Georgia

My sister’s and I try very hard to get together one a year to catch up with each other. We always miss our sister Jan in heaven but she’s in our hearts each time. Hard to believe it’s been 6 years.  We all miss her!

This year we gathered at my sister Mary’s home in Evans, Georgia. She is a super host and was excited to show off her new home. The weekend consisted of laughing, eating,  playing euchre, a boat ride down a canal in Augusta which is next to the Savanah river, fire on the patio and more laughter.

Mistletoe state park,  Appling, Georgia

This was a great place to hang out for a few days. Close to family but it provided me a place to hike, use the dump station and I had hoped for warmer weather to paddle. Unfortunately, a lot of the trails were still closed and weather was only in the 60s with a 10 mile wind. Not great paddling weather. I was able to piece together some nice day hikes and see the work taking place to clear all the downed trees. Site 26 was good,  27 would have been better. A lot of the sites look over the waters of Clark Hill lake. Just need to find ways to enjoy the neighbors dogs. Lol! There were 5 there 1 day. Yikes!

Magnolia Springs SP near Millen, Georgia

I have been here multiple times. It’s got some great trails but my thoughts were to stop and break up a long drive. I also messed up and somehow double booked at Stephen C. Foster. They ladies in the office were super helpful transferring my 3 nights to this park. There’s a first time for everything. The weather was cold and wet but there were breaks in the weather allowing me to get out each day.

Stephen C. Foster State Park near Fargo, Georgia

This was the 3rd campground I camped with family at. Unfortunately,  bother Tom and wife Terri had to miss out. If you follow me, you know this is my favorite place to go. The swamp is something special and I enjoy it here every time I visit. First day was a hike on the boardwalk and getting information on paddling into different areas of the swamp. Our original plan was to rent a John boat to go farther and see more. However, water levels were way low and Dave pointed out noise level of motor vs paddling. We scored a sunset paddle our second day here. During the day, we hit up every trail we could.  Next day was all paddling.  Pictures say a 1000 words. Enjoy!
