Seminole state park near Bainbridge, Georgia

I met up with my brother and his wife for a couple days camping with them. They brought their grandkids for some camping fun. We all had a great time.

Once they took off, I spent 5 more days here relaxing and walking the many trails. Amazing to see the before and after of a controlled burn.

Florida Caverns State Park near Marianne, Florida

I was at this park just after Hurricane Michael took out 85% of their trees and demolished the campground. The cavern tours were still open. It was great to see the amount of work and Nature that has reshaped this park.  And the Cavern tour is always worthwhile going through anytime you’re nearby. I of course, took way too many pictures but will try to share the best ones with you all.

The tour explored about 3/4 of a mile in the cavern. Once out, I walked along the bluff trail and came across a couple more tunnels/ carven entrances.

Eastbank COE near Chattahoochee,  FL

I love this campground but there’s really not a lot to do once you get here. A Walk to the Jim Woodruff Dam, chatting with other campers and enjoy the sunsets over Lake Seminole.

Camel Lake National forest campground near Bristol, FL

This is a 11 site campground 2 miles in from a paved road.  It makes me nervous driving 2 miles in on a not so great road but once here, it’s heaven. The lake is about 1.5 miles around on a very well worn trail. The birds are fantastic and neighbors quiet. I had 2 different sites while I was here. One was right on the lake, the other a little farther away. What was surprising was the week before,  they had a controlled burn. Amazing to see how different everything looked. But still seeing new life emerge.

Suwannee River SP, Live Oak, FL

This campground was just recently opened after a lot of repairs and tree removal. Hurricane Idalia hit this area very hard and a huge amount of work was done to open trails and the campground. The camp host said about 60% of their trees were removed. It’s still a lovely, small campground; just a little more open between sites.

There are multiple trails to walk and enjoy all the birds singing. The Suwannee river trail is great as it meanders along the river. But the Lime Sink run is also sweet.  Damage to the bridge made it an out and back walk however.

Salt Springs Recreation area, Salt Springs,  FL

I was a little disappointed in how open the sites were here. I knew it was a huge park but was hoping for a little more privacy between sites. And Highway 19 was loud where I was at.

Now the day area was a totally different story.  Huge area and plenty of room to spread out. The swimming area of the springs is also huge. I also enjoyed walking the Bear Track trail which is part of the Florida Birding trail.

Juniper Springs National forest campground

I love this campground. The sites are very secluded and spacious. I am positive I booked the same spot the last time I was here. Site 51 has Pearl tucked in and blocking the camping area of to the side. There’s no electricity but it was sunny enough to keep the batteries charged and the fridge running.

Lake Griffin state park near Leesburg, Florida

I wasn’t sure if I’d been here before but just as soon as I pulled in, I knew I had. This is a small 40 site campground tucked in a 3 city busy area. Leesburg,  Fruitland Park and The Villages.
