Grass Point state park, Alexandria Bay, NY

This was an interesting state park. Not quite what I was expecting but I did enjoy my stay. Very opened sites with only a few trees here and there. A nice beach area right on the St. Lawrence river. No real hiking trails. Lots of boats and fishing available. Look for my nexts posts where I explored the river.

Bolt Castle in Alexandria Bay, NY

I have to break up this amazing trip into 3 different blog posts. Otherwise, it would overwhelm not only you but me!

Bolt castle was a self guided tour around Heart island and the castle itself. Thank goodness there’s an app to help you navigate what is here. I spent close to 2.5 hours here. Well worth the $13 admission fee as well as the cost of the tour boat.

Ives Run COE campground near Tioga, PA

This was a HUGE campground! Thank goodness it was separated into several smaller loops. I was lucky to get one with a view of the lake and boat launch area. The only sad part was the weather. Cold, windy, rain; just little bursts of sun to make you believe it was going to be nice.

Buckalloons National forest campground near Irvine, PA

I was not expecting this great of a campground as it was a national forest campground but…the area is beautiful. It sits right along the Allegany river and very close to Kinzu Dam. Sites were huge and very private. Not much of a walking trail but most here are on the river fishing or kayaking. Would definitely come back!

Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, Ohio

I debated stopping again this time around as I was going to be going thru the area. But it was well worth it! Just wish I had checked the website out first as it was only $15 on Tue but I had to pay $45. Next time! And I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a next time. Lol! So much to see here and I always seem to discover something new. Enjoy the pictures! I took more but these are some highlights. If you like football, you’ll enjoy this place!

Mary Jane Thurston state park in Grand Rapids, Ohio

I’ve stayed at this state park before and continue to enjoy it. The sites fronting the river are not extremely private but there’s no noise from other campers. I also love the walk along the canal  into town. There are quite a few interesting stores along mainstreet.

One store I stopped into was not opened, but the owner was there and let me in. Jo explained her products and the benefits of buchu leaves. Of which there are many! I purchased some tea and soap. All products are made by her, so I’m looking forward to trying them.

The relaxing view from site 21 as I enjoyed starting my travels and making plans for the fall.

35 years getting together with girlfriends!

It’s been 5 years since I was able to be in the area to attend this annual event. I’ve known most of these ladies for over 40 years. We had a great time catching up and remembering years past. Boy, have we had a lot of adventures! Too bad the weather didn’t cooperate with warm temps and sun. It was Windy, cold and cloudy.
