Falling Waters SP near Chipley, Florida

As I wander my way slowly back to family, I have the opportunity to revisit some of my favorite parks here in Florida. Falling Waters has a couple great trails with different views of the waterfall and surrounding sinkhole. Each time here the landscape changes. With rain, the waterfall flows more. It was warmer than it’s been, so a few hours on the beach were nice. However,  it’s nothing like the Gulf beaches. I was also able to watch some great football games and give myself a haircut. I’m getting much better with my clippers.

St. Joseph Peninsula state park near Port St. Joe, Florida

So my original plan was to get some sun and lounge on the beach. Mother Nature had a different plan. Good thing it’s football playoffs. I was able to get out and walk the beach but storms came and went the whole time I was here. Thankfully, Pearl received an early Christmas present. A new Smart TV so I can stream, cast or mirror football games and watch on a larger screen than my phone.  Thanks to brother Tom for the install assist.

Ochlockonee River State Park near Sopchopy, Florida

This park is one of my brother’s and his wife’s favorite. Great trails, peaceful river walk, lots of deer, fun white squirrels running around and only 28 camping spots. You’re also close to St. Marks wildlife refuse and historic lighthouse. I understand why they love it so much. I jumped around to 3 different sites in order to extend my stay. If only they rented kayaks I would have gone out on the river. However there’s too many gators here for me to feel comfortable on a paddle board.
