Gifford Pinchot state park near Harrisburg, PA

This is a HUGE park and some sites are more secluded than others. I didn’t have the luxury of one of those however it was  quite. And the lake was at the end of the road with a nice view. Good thing to because my left foot was in severe pain. It was plantor facitis I think. Good thing it was Saturday and there were some good football games on. Spent most of my time here with my foot elevated, iced, massaged and used my tines machine.

Schodack Island SP near Albany, NY

This park is situated on the Hudson River and is a little island  peninsula. I’ve stayed here before and really enjoyed the hiking trails. And I’m not crazy enough to paddle board on the Hudson River in 50 temps and 15 mph winds. Maybe next time I’ll paddle the creekside if the water comes up. Looked very low to me.

Ricker Pond state park near Groton, Vermont

Another beautiful place! Tucked up in the mountains, this little campground and pond were extremely quiet. Except when I had to run my generator. Vermont state parks do not offer electricity or water at any sites. As my batteries are 5 years old, I like to baby them and not run them down too much. I was here for 4 days. Luckily, I only bothered 1 tent camper my first morning there. After that, I didn’t have neighbors.

Umbagog Lake state park near Erroll, New Hampshire

What an incredible drive from Conway, NH to this campground. There were 3 different routes to choose from. I opted for the one through  Western Maine. It was spectacular! Miles of rolling hills and astounding colors on them. Finally, I’m seeing peak colors. Granted, I’m quite a ways north now too. Once at the campground, which is in the middle of nowhere, I set up a little bit off a beautiful lake.

There were not any hiking trails here, but just up the road was Grafton Notch State Park with multiple pull offs for trails and falls to explore. Some were better than other’s but a great day anyway you look at it.

White Mountain National forest near Conway, New Hampshire

I went in knowing I wouldn’t have any cell service for a couple of days but it was great. Just raining both days here. It would have been much better hiking and sightseeing along route 112 with clear blue skies. As it was, I did some pull offs along 112 at overlooks, but pictures didn’t turn out well because of the rain and fog. I will definitely be back through this area again. Silver lining was colors hadn’t started changing that much.

Here’s a picture of the White mountains as I  was leaving. More colors to come!

Bear Brook State Park near Salem,New Hampshire

This was about a hour north of my stop at America’s Stonehenge. It was a beautiful park and not very many people camping here. Nice trails and weather was pretty good but rain was coming! I also was able to watch some lumberjacks take down some huge dead trees! I wasn’t quick enough to get a video of 1 huge tree coming down and taking a few others with it.
