Lake Griffin State Park near Fruitland Park, Florida

It’s been awhile since I was here but it’s a nice little Park and I had the opportunity to visit with some friends who are wintering in the area. They picked me up and we had a great lunch, then came back to my site to catch up.

Of course I hiked and admired the trees, quite and peace surrounding me.

I will come back to enjoy the quiet.

Meeting people along the way

In the last few days , I have met 3 women who are interested in my lifestyle. One was our flight attendant  from  Sanford to Traverse City. We caught up after my return at this fantastic farm! If you’re in the Deland, De Leon Springs area, you should definitely stop by here! After getting some fresh veggies, we sat and talked for about an hour on how I manage my travel. I’m sure our paths will cross again!

That same day, I met a woman who is just starting on this adventure and is posting her journey on YouTube. She asked to interview me, and we had a fantastic time talking about why I chose to do this. How I manage my travel and of course I showed off Pearl. She’ll let me know when it will post, but in the meantime, if you want to check it out, search for ‘mylifeinavan’ (all 1 word) on YouTube.

The next day, while on a hike, I started talking to a woman who was interested in how to blog. After talking on the trail for a few, we figured my camp site would be more comfortable. Sheila teaches a multitude of different skills, from CPR to wilderness survival. She’s beat  cancer twice and has journaled her diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and now her day to day Outlook on living life to its fullest. This is why she wants to start a blog. Sounds fascinating.

Can’t wait to see who else I meet and can share my adventures with!

Tomoka State Park at Ormand Beach, Florida

Sorry, I keep revisiting parks, but I am in the “season” with a lot of full campgrounds. I think this will continue, but I’m trying to hit new places. You take what you can get. Besides  this is a beautiful park and lots to do. I wish I could have stayed longer and kayaked the river. Next time! Lol!!

Visiting the frozen north to see Mom!

3rd time is a charm to get up to visit my mom. At 94.5 trips around the sun, we’re watching her decline and my siblings and I wanted to see her. It was unfortunate that our sister Kathy couldn’t make it as was planned the first two trips we tried. As it was, I drove 3 hours south to catch a flight north. Mom still has a great sense of humor and we all shared a lot of laughter. A lot of memories were shared thru picture books and scrap books. We also helped Mom video chat with a few of her nieces and nephew.

And of course we played Bingo! Mom and Mary didn’t win, but I did!

Crooked River State Park near St. Mary’s, Georgia

I know,  another campground I was just at but come on. It’s a beautiful place and I was hoping to be far enough south to avoid the snowfall thst came across the south. Not so lucky with the cold but I can easily say I wasn’t bored. Long hikes bundled up and 1 day chilling in Pearl. I say chilling but I was toasty warm inside. Hoping the warm weather will be here soon!!
